About Me

For more than 40 years I've been helping people discover that growing your own food doesn't have to be complicated. With the right knowledge, a little patience, and a willingness to work with nature, anyone can enjoy the rewards of harvesting fresh, healthy food from their own garden.

I'm Simon Adams—an organic grower, author, educator, and creator of Diary of an Organic Grower and the Your Growing Companion garden app.

My journey has been built on decades of hands-on experience, continual learning, and a genuine curiosity about how nature works. I believe the best gardens aren't created by fighting nature, but by understanding it. Healthy soil, biodiversity, and careful observation have always been at the heart of the way I grow.

Throughout my career I've had the privilege of working with Garden Organic, one of the UK's leading organic gardening organisations, helping to promote sustainable growing methods and practical gardening knowledge. I continue to expand my professional knowledge and am proud to be a member of the Chartered Institute of Horticulture.

In 2024 I published my book, From Seed to Table, bringing together more than four decades of practical experience, proven growing techniques, and the lessons I've learned from my own successes—and plenty of mistakes along the way.

Today I continue to share my journey through Diary of an Organic Grower, documenting what happens in my own garden throughout the seasons. Rather than presenting perfection, I share the real story—the challenges, the experiments, the unexpected successes, and sometimes the failures—because that's how we all learn.

To help gardeners put that knowledge into practice, I also created the Your Growing Companion app. It combines practical planning tools, weather-based advice, crop records, and growing guidance to make gardening simpler and more enjoyable, whether you're tending a few containers or a large vegetable garden.

Everything I do—through my videos, writing, book, and app—has one purpose: to give people the confidence to grow more of their own food while working in harmony with nature, one season at a time.
